The Boca Raton Museum of Art has acquired Mark Yang's outstanding painting Bellini VI (2024) into the Museum’s permanent collection.
Bellini VI belongs to Mark Yang's recent Bellini-inspired series, which emerged following his 2024 visit to the Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice, Italy. There, Yang became deeply engaged with the Venetian master’s approach to composition, light, and the expressive potential of the human body. Rather than direct quotation, these historical influences surface quietly—through softened chromatic transitions, spatial restraint, and figures held in moments of suspended tension. This synthesis of historical reference and contemporary figuration reflects Yang’s broader practice, in which the body becomes a site for vulnerability, memory, and relational complexity.
The acquisition meaningfully places Yang’s work in dialogue with the Museum’s collection, and the Museum’s ongoing commitment to contemporary painting that engages deeply with art historical tradition. ‘Bellini VI’ bridges centuries of figural inquiry and will shine as an example of how artists continue to reinterpret classical approaches to the body through modern and personal perspectives.
Clubhouse is proud to facilitate the placement of this important work into the Boca Museum’s collection and grateful to the Museum for its thoughtful stewardship and vision.
